What happened at the 2020 Savage X Fenty Show?

In its second year, the lingerie brand's diverse show moved from a live-audience set up, to a pre-filmed one, allowing for an even more polished performance, complete with slow-motion and super close close-ups of the underwear-clad stars.

Rihanna, as before, enlisted the help of models, dancers, and performance artists for the almost hour-long show, that took viewers through four different scenes interspersed with to-camera interviews with Rihanna, amongst others.

Rihanna strutting in a thong kicked off the show, followed by a performance by musical artist Rosalia and cameo by Cara Delevingne.

The event's next supermodel appearance was Bella Hadid. After a brief interlude of Rihanna discussing her inspiration, and some crazy-amazing dancing, the new aunt can be seen writhing in a black lingerie set to N.E.R.D's 'She Wants To Move', because, why not?

And if Hadid wasn't enough for you, 57-year-old Demi Moore then made her appearance on the other side of the black sofa in fishnet stockings and diamanté jewellery for days.

After drag queen Jaida Essence Hall and Big Sean did their thing, a bridal-lingerie-inpired Normani danced, complete with veil and latex gloves.

DJ Mustard then took over the mic, alongside Ella Mai and Roddy Ricch, followed by an interlude in which Rihanna discusses the influence of drag culture on her work and the celebratory nature of beauty and fashion.

Finally, Lizzo took centre stage, with an iconic dance to D'Angelo's 'Brown Sugar' in an electric blue bodystocking and white trainers.

After another brief interlude about sexuality and female empowerment, Adesuwa Aighewi and Jazzelle Zanaughtti took centre stage while Bad Bunny performed, before we were transported to a tropical wonderland filled with nymph-like creatures played by Paloma Elsesser, Irina Shayk, Laura Harrier and more.

What happened at the 2019 Savage X Fenty show?

Being a triple threat herself, Rihanna chose to cast dancers and actors as well as models to showcase her AW19 collection at the Barclays Centre.

ELLE UK cover star Cara Delevingne - who we're more accustomed to seeing on TV screens than catwalks in 2019 - returned to the runway for her good friend Rihanna, modelling a green lace look and exuding serious dominatrix vibes (complete with a heart-shaped paddle).

Alek Wek, Joan Smalls, Laverne Cox and Normani also strutted walked the set as did 21 Savage and Christian Combs (P Diddy's son).

Ahead of the show's premiere on Amazon Prime, the streaming service released a teaser trailer giving a glimpse of what went down at the show.

The 50-minute clip showed Rihanna ready to slay, the typical pre-show chaos of dancers rehearsing and models running up and down stairs for their quick changes as well as Delevingne preparing to walk the runway.

The venue was transformed into a movie-like city setting with eighties-style pink and blue neon lights. There were peep-show-esque windows with models wearing Savage X Fenty in each one, while others took their place on different levels of the impressive set.

This wasn't just a straightforward fashion show, either. Rihanna delivered a musical performance alongside an impressive line-up of artists including Halsey, Migos, DJ Khaled, Big Sean, A$AP Ferg, Fat Joe, Fabolous and Tierra Whack.

The show was created and executively produced by Rihanna and the collection features embellished details, 'daring' playsuits and more inclusive sizing ranging from 32A-42H and XS-3X.

Who attended the Savage X Fenty 2019 show?

After the guest of honour – Rihanna, obviously – walked the black-coloured carpet, the step-and-repeat shots released by the makers of the show indicate a roster of A-List guests who were all keen to see the singer's latest lingerie collection.

Delevingne was joined by then-girlfriend Ashley Benson at the runway presentation, and, taking a break from walking in numerous shows this fashion week, a glowingly pregnant Ashley Graham, as well as Gigi and Bella Hadid.

Past and present big names in music were there too like Halsey, Kacey Musgraves, Hailee Steifeld, Kehlani and rapper Fat Joe.

Rihanna's muse Slick Woods - who went into labour shortly after walking last year's show - also attended, as did models Joan Smalls, Chanel Iman, Iskra Lawrence and Halima Aden.

On Friday, Rihanna's Savage X Fenty Instagram account teased a video from the show from that show, which features Hadid and Delevingne strutting their stuff inside a multi-coloured tunnel.

'They came, they SLAYED, they conquered,' an excerpt of the video's caption reads.
