Richard Curtis has finally revealed what Juliet's job was in Love Actually

Despite being released nearly 20 years ago, there's still a lot of questions we have about Love Actually. Like, is there ever going to be sequel? Was Daniel (Liam Neeson) actually in love with Karen (Emma Thompson?). And what was Juliet's job? Whilst we may never get an answer to most of these questions, the director of Love Actually, Richard Curtis, has finally revealed what Juliet did for a living. And no, it wasn't a banoffee pie maker.

Richard Curtis' daughter, writer Scarlett Curtis, posted a poll on her Instagram stories recently, where she asked her 89,000 followers if they knew what Juliet's (Keira Knightley) job was in the film. 96 per cent of them said no and so Scarlett hopped on a video call with her dad to get some answers, which she later shared to her Instagram.

Richard revealed that Juliet was actually an interior designer and he thought her profession was obvious from the set display.

Speaking to Scarlett he said: "I’m hurt that you don’t know. I think it’s very clear from the set design, while he’s [Chiwetel Ejiofor's Peter] making the phone call to Andrew Lincoln [Mark], that she has worked for quite a long time as an interior decorator."

Richard went onto explain they came up with her job title whilst deciding what room Juliet would be calling Mark from about the wedding footage.

He explained: "I think it’s more a question that when we said, well, in, then we’re doing this scene where she makes a phone call to Andrew Lincoln.

"Everyone panicked and said, ‘What kind of a room is she going to be making the phone call from?’ And I said, 'Well, how about, like, maybe she’s an interior decorator, and so there’s lots of swatches and some paint colours.'"

So there we have it, Juliet was an interior designer. In fairness it does makes a lot of sense, Juliet and Peter did live in an incredibly nice house.
