How to revive your hair after summer

Now we've technically reached the end of summer, you might be looking to give your hair some extra care.

The summer holidays are good fun but they aren't always kind to our hair. If you have spent a lot of time in the sun or swimming in the sea or a chlorinated pool, your hair might be in serious need of a revival.

Experts at the haircare brand Good Gracious have revealed how to bring your hair back to life as we enter the new season.

Time for a trim

If you are in need of a hair refresh, the first thing to do is get your locks trimmed.

"When the plane touches down and you're back from holiday, put booking a hair appointment to the top of your to-do list," the experts recommend. "A good trim is the perfect way to get rid of any split ends that have appeared over the summer and get your hair back into tip-top condition... Perhaps ask for some layers to give a fresh lease of life, texture and shape."

Switch up your style

If you want to take it a step further, you could change your look with a new hairstyle. This is also a great opportunity to get rid of any dry and damaged hair.

"The perfect way to banish the holiday blues is with an on-trend, new hair style," the experts suggest. "This autumn sees the rise in popularity of the awe-inspiring boy bob, a formidable style that has already been seen on celebs such as Swedish model Elsa Hosk and actress Chloe Moretz."

Colour care

If you dye your hair, you might have noticed that over the summer your hair has become a little dull - this is due to the UV rays.

"Over-exposure to the sun can cause damage to coloured hair as the UV rays break down the chemical bonds in hair colour causing fading to occur," the experts say, suggesting that you try a colour-correcting shampoo and conditioner to "bring your colour back to its former glory".

September sun

Although we are now officially in the autumn season, the sun is still shining in the U.K., meaning it is still important to protect your hair from UV rays.

Additionally, the experts suggest giving your hair an extra boost by using a nourishing hair mask such as the Good Gracious Crown of Glory Repair mask, which is "enriched with Coconut Oil to deeply nourish and repair dry, damaged hair" and to leave your locks feeling "smooth, soft and super-shiny".
