The Repair Shop's new spin off show starts tonight
A new spin off of The Repair Shop will air on TV this evening and fans are delighted.
The Repair Shop On The Road will follow show favourites, Dom and Will, as they travel across the UK fixing historical treasures and precious objects that can't be brought to the barn.
The craft show will initially air on BBC Scotland as well as BBC iPlayer but will be broadcasting on BBC terrestrial to the rest of the UK later this year.
Fans of The Repair Shop were thrilled with the news. @simmo_60 commented: "Excellent. What a brilliant idea" and @_lily_naylor_ said: "Really looking forward to this". There were also calls for the road trip to extend to other parts of the world. "What about a tour in Holland" asked @marionhendriks2 and @alisa_m58 commented: "Consider coming to the continent?"
The Repair Shop usually takes place in The Repair Shop barn. Experts in a wide range of restoration fields, including woodwork, metalwork, electricals and paper preservation, work together to restore each piece lovingly and sympathetically, before returning it to the owner.
Dominic Chinea is a set designer, vehicle restorer and metalwork expert and Will Kirk is a carpenter, wood painter and cabinet-maker.
Dom has spoken to Prima previously about the appeal of The Repair Shop saying: "I think it's clear that we're trying to inspire people. We're using it as a platform to show that you don't have to throw things away, that there's always a way to repurpose something. I think viewers like the idea of being part of that."
We can't wait to watch the new show!
Watch The Repair Shop On The Road on BBC iPlayer and BBC Scotland at 8pm on Mondays.
