Reneé Rapp Pays Tribute to Regina George’s Prom Outfit at the 'Mean Girls' Premiere
Regina George was notoriously critical of other people’s fashion, but we do think she would appreciate this nod to one of her most memorable looks.
For the premiere of the 2023 Mean Girls musical film, star Reneé Rapp paid homage to her character with a chic, two-tone gown from Christian Siriano.
As fans of the 2004 comedy may recall, there’s a scene where Regina tries on her prom dress at a store called 1, 3, 5, and it doesn’t fit. But the strapless baby pink satin dress adorned with a black bow sash makes a return later on in the film, when Regina ultimately wears it to prom with an unusual accessory—a back brace (due to her getting hit by a yellow school bus, and all).

Now, with the film getting a remake based on the 2017 musical adaptation, Reneé decided to pay tribute to the iconic gown with a Siriano Spring/Summer 2024 design. The piece featured a black blazer top that was layered under an oversized pink corset, and the corset was stitched with black laces going down the center in diminishing size. Meanwhile, the blazer was layered over a floor-length skirt that featured an asymmetrical panel of fabric, a high slit up the left leg, and a train that fell behind her.
Reneé is reprising her role as Regina, which she previously played on Broadway for less than a year, before the show was shut down due to COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, the performer has also starred on Mindy Kaling‘s Max series, The Sex Lives of College Girls, and in 2023, she released her debut studio album, Snow Angel.
