Renée Zellweger is Bridget Jones to many of us, meaning when we think of her, we picture Bridge's shoulder-length blonde hair (a windswept mess after that car ride with Daniel). But Bridget Jones is a new woman, everyone, and she's now right on trend with the hairstyle of the moment: a pixie cut.

Oscar-winning actress Renée has just debuted her androgynous new look on the cover of British Vogue's February issue, and it's such a dramatic transformation that we almost didn't recognise her. The biggest inspiration? David Bowie, according to her hairstylist Syd Hayes, hence the floppy fringe.

Hayes told the magazine that his celebrity client had been excited to try something "so radically different", and we're delighted that she did. Because this textured pixie crop really suits Renée, not least because her evident confidence helps her carry its boldness.

Swear you've seen the star with such short hair before? You're right! She experimented with similar looks in both 1999 and 2007, so she knew she could pull it off with even more aplomb this third time. Plus, now's the perfect moment to jump on the pixie trend, with fellow Hollywood darlings Emma Stone and Brie Larson both also reaching for the scissors and showing off new crop cuts recently.

We're counting down the days until Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy lands in cinemas on Valentine's Day, starring One Day's heartthrob Leo Woodall as widowed, single mum Bridget's new younger man. Yes, Hugh Grant's returning too, and he's teased the movie as "extremely funny but also very, very sad", so bring your tissues. In the meantime, we're enjoying seeing Bridget like we've never seen her before.
