COVID-19 has changed the landscape of employment over the past year, as many companies and employees have been forced to implement remote working on scales never seen before amid widespread lockdowns.

The race to take operations digital has seen an escalating number of meetings move to Zoom, while workers have rushed to improve home office spaces.

In light of this, Resume.io researchers have identified the 25 best UK employers for people who want to work from home.

The team assessed work/life balance, salary, benefits, job security and company culture to determine the best employers for workers who are looking for permanent remote work.

According to their calculations, health tech and clinical research firm IQVIA (IQV) is the overall top employer looking for UK remote workers, while digital service design and development agency Bit Zesty leads four of the categories researched: work/life balance, salary & benefits, management & culture and job security.

The main issue that prevented Bit Zesty from claiming the overall number one spot was that there aren’t many remote jobs available.

Big names such as the BBC, Microsoft (MSFT) and online marketplace NotOnTheHighStreet also ranked highly for remote working credentials.

Unsurprisingly, about half (44%, or 11 out of 25) of the companies that got the highest scores across the categories are tech firms.

Both the finance and insurance and engineering and manufacturing industries scored high, with each securing three places in the chart.

Places 11-20 on the list generally fell down for lack of employer recognition, despite ranking well for management and culture.

Employers that ranked 21-25 included Pearson, Utilita, Avado, Lineten and Optima Health.

The data, which was gathered in October 2020, was sourced from PayScale, the other scores were sourced from Indeed.

Resume.io also checked the employers against two lists of best employers in the UK: the Glassdoor- Best Places to Work in the UK and Top Employers Institute via The Guardian.
