The Reimagined Chateau Opens at Nemacolin

It’s a new era at Nemacolin. The luxurious resort, located on​ more than​ 2,200 wooded acres in the spectacular Laurel Highlands of ​south​western Pennsylvania, has always aimed for the best and then done even better. Now, the reimagination of The Chateau, the crown jewel of the property, is raising the bar on every facet of the resort’s accommodations, amenities, and services. The transformation is the culmination of a series of revitalizations that included the renovation of The Grand Lodge in ​​2023 and will continue with new venues, experiences, and events throughout the year.

The Chateau, known for its classic Ritz Paris-inspired architecture, welcomes guests through a grand porte cochere into an opulent lobby with a Macchia Oro marble fireplace and extravagant appointments of crystal, veined marble, and velvet, enhanced by floral motifs and twinkling lights.

The grandeur continues with the redesign of the hotel’s 124 rooms and suites, which boast new wall, floor, and window coverings, as well as inviting baths with soaking tubs, marble details, and elegant chandeliers. Nemacolin’s renowned white-glove butler service is included with each reservation, but for guests who want an even more elite experience, there are the 17 lavish accommodations on The Chateau Club Floor, including the 2,200-square-foot Presidential Suite​.​​ Guests staying on The Chateau Club Floor enjoy exclusive access to the ​elegant Club Lounge.

The Chateau’s new venues include the exquisite Lobby Bar, where mixologists preside over the impressive,​ scalloped bar ​while​​ c​rystal chandeliers illuminate the accents of Quartzite Esmeralda stone and gleaming brass, providing a luxurious backdrop for sipping signature cocktails. For traditional afternoon tea, guests can linger in ​The​​ B​leu Room​, so aptly named,​ as they savor light bites and exotic tea blends served in hand-painted porcelain.

Beyond The Chateau, the new Nightcap offers vintage glamour in a lounge setting designed to make every evening a celebration. Just inside the entrance, a marble bar beckons patrons to settle into mahogany and velvet chairs to enjoy their libations. Live jazz and cabaret performances take place in the dining room, whose spacious booths are upholstered in velvet jacquard. There’s also an intimate​,​ atmospheric Smoking Lounge, where the Violet Mystique Chandelier—a creation of handcrafted glass orbs and tendrils designed by famed glass artist Dale Chihuly—forms a unique centerpiece.

Nemacolin is known for its spirit of whimsy, and that is evident in the retro style of PJ’s Ice Cream Parlor, a contemporary version of the iconic sweet shops of the past adorned with mosaic tile and colorful murals. On tap is Pittsburgh’s famed Millie’s ​Homemade ice cream.

To encourage the creative impulses of guests, Nemacolin has​ ​redesigned its art studios with displays of art, ceramics, and other crafts, along with inspiring work spaces for adults and children. The Kids Club is another innovative space for children to exercise their spirit of fun and adventure​ or for a day or evening of merriment while parents indulge with spa treatments, dinner, or an evening rendezvous​.

To usher in and celebrate the transformations throughout the resort, Nemacolin has planned a series of ambitious events in 2024. The Summer Solstice ​Celebration ​brought celebrity guests and musicians for a three-day extravaganza, but the festivities continue all year​ ​with expert-led golf schools, special events like an Olympic Party, and weekend-long holiday commemorations for Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving.

Of course, any stay here becomes a noteworthy occasion for guests, considering the range of available activities, including golf outings on the two championship courses, spa and wellness treatments, and favorite outdoor adventures and pursuits. It’s all part of the magic of Nemacolin, once again superbly reimagined with a one-of-a-kind flair.
