On Sunday evening, the 93rd Academy Awards (AKA, the Oscars) took place in LA, and while only nominees and presenters were invited to the ceremony due to COVID-19 protocol, we still got our red carpet fix.
Like all fashion and beauty buffs, I spent the early hours of the morning scrolling online to see if there were any celebrity-approved items I should add to my basket, ASAP.
Quick to catch my eye was Reese Witherspoon, whose scarlet, Grecian-inspired Dior dress was enhanced by her glowy and bronzed complexion.
So, I did a little digging and discovered celebrity make-up artist Tracey Levy had used Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation (also available at John Lewis and Lookfantastic).
The multi-award winning beauty product is in fact already a celebrity favourite, with Kim Kardashian and Meghan Markle's make-up artists both fans of the cult foundation.
"How good can it be?" You ask.
As someone who doesn't often give into beauty hype, my sister persuaded me to try the Luminous Silk Foundation about two years ago, and while it was a rather steep price increase, I have never used anything else since.
Why I rate it
As the name suggests, the foundation has a silky texture, and while, at first, it may seem to only offer very light coverage, it's extremely buildable.
I find this great throughout the year, as I can easily have less coverage in the summer without having to buy an entirely new foundation.
Armani's lightweight formula offers a natural-looking glow without caking, that glides onto your skin.
In order to do this, the foundation uses exclusive Micro-fil technology, which helps to brighten the skin, as well as blur any imperfections.
It's also infused with glycerine to give your skin all-day hydration. Unlike other foundations, you don't need to worry about your foundation separating or drying out on certain areas of your face.
At first, I too was hesitant about the £43 price tag, but a little goes a long way, and I only need a few pumps per application, meaning a bottle lasts for months.
That's not to say I haven't tried to revert to a more affordable alternative - I have - but it quickly got the sack, and two years on, Armani's silky foundation will continue to be my go-to for many years to come.
What other customers say
Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation comes in 40 shades and is suitable for all skin types.
With over 2,500 five-star reviews, I'm definitely not the only customer who has been converted to the celebrity-loved foundation:
This is hands-down the best foundation I've ever used. At first I thought it was too sheer, but, I just wasn't using enough. I've got an oily t-zone, but it gives me an amazing glow without looking greasy. Lasts all day, and doesn't look like 'foundation.'
"My holy grail foundation. Have used this for a few years now. I find it moisturising but not greasy, it evens skin without being cakey, and lasts all day without feeling dry or clingy. It is quite expensive but it lasts a long time if you're only using one pump a day."
"I'd heard so many people rave about this foundation - especially celebrity makeup artists...It's reacted very well with my dry skin and the colour fits great."
"Love the coverage, how the colour matches to my skin and the texture it gives to my skin. Stays on all day which is a big plus. Give me a radiant, fresh look."
"Cannot fault it. Very good coverage and lasts long."
