Red Roses Zoe Harrison and Tatyana Heard front campaign for ALIGNE's women's rugby sponsorship
With women's sports on the up and up ('about time' we all say in unison), it's no wonder that the global fashion industry is strutting in to get involved.
Enter London-based label ALIGNE, teaming up with Hove Rugby Club as their star sponsor with the specific focus of empowering the club's women and girls programs, from minis to seniors. By providing essential kits and resources, ALIGNE aims to close the gender gap and create tailored programs that elevate every player, ensuring they have the tools to thrive both on and off the field.
'Fashion is about wearing what makes you feel confident. The absence of gender-inclusive sports kit that makes girls feel represented and comfortable on the pitch is a contributing reason why 64 per cent of them stop playing sports by age 16. When your clothing fits you feel confident and powerful,' said ALIGNE's CEO Ginny Seymour .
Tapping into the ever-growing star potential coming out of England's Red Roses rugby team, the label has collaborated with players Zoe Harrison and Tatyana Heard to front the campaign of the AW24 campaign.
'I think it’s important for people to respect that we are more than who we are on the pitch. We can be feminine and fashionable,' said Tatyana.
By sponsoring a grassroots club like Hove, ALIGNE hopes to see further investment of equal resources into womens games. With increased visibility and support, more women will have the chance to excel and redefine their role in the sports industry.
'When I was younger, I had to join a boys' team because there weren't any girls' teams. Since then, women’s sports have grown massively, especially in the last couple of years, which means a lot more girls are playing, and it’s more accessible for them,' said Zoe Harrison.
Not the first time the label has dipped its toes into the world of sport, earlier this year it unveiled Lioness star Lucy Bronze as the face of its spring-summer collection to a roaring success.
