Red carpet rewind: What everyone wore to the Oscars in 1997
This year, the likes of Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Jennifer Hudson, Brie Larson, Casey Affleck and Amy Adams are expected to attend the Oscars, but rewind two decades and it was a whole different collection of stars who made sure they didn’t miss Hollywood’s most prestigious awards ceremony.
Back in 1997, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were still a couple and made their way down the red carpet looking very dapper indeed (Nicole wore a yellow satin dress adorned with a floral pattern on the bodice). Goldie Hawn looked as on point as ever in a glittering gown, while her partner Kurt Russell kept his cool in sunnies. Susan Sarandon also wore sunglasses and attended the do with her then-husband Tim Robbins.
Will Smith and wife Jada looked like they had the most fun, frolicking around on the red carpet in their co-ordinated green outfits. Salma Hayek looked every inch the princess in a tiara and some questionable bright blue eyeshadow; Diane Keaton worked a crisp, white suit and Winona Ryder donned a beaded LBD.
