There’s a Reason ‘Queen Charlotte’ Star Michelle Fairley Looks So Familiar
We could spend hours recalling all the similarities between Bridgerton and Netflix’s new spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. However, we never expected the show to incorporate a special tribute to Game of Thrones.

The Bridgerton prequel, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, just debuted on Netflix on May 4. And while India Ria Amarteifio deserves an award for her portrayal of young Queen Charlotte, there’s one other cast member who has caught our attention: Michelle Fairley.

In Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the 59-year-old portrays King George’s mother, Dowager Princess Augusta (AKA the Queen Mother). Fairley is everything we’d expect from a matriarch figure, especially one that preceded the beloved Queen Charlotte. She’s stoic, she’s critical and, most importantly, she’s dedicated to the crown. (Don’t even get us started on her gorgeous dresses.)
If Fairley looks familiar, that’s probably because she also starred in Game of Thrones as Catelyn Stark, the wife of Eddard (Sean Bean). While there’s no relation between GoT and Bridgerton, it’s ironic that Fairley has continued her role as the Queen Mother in an entirely different setting.

Of course, Game of Thrones isn’t Fairley’s only claim to fame. The actress has also appeared in Suits, 24: Live Another Day, Resurrection, Fortitude, The White Princess, The Feed and Gangs of London.
All hail Catelyn Stark Princess Augusta.
