A Realtor Sent Christmas Cards to 50 Random People — Causing Chaos, Including Accusations of Cheating
“You need to straighten this out before it gets very, very ugly," an angry client said after receiving one of the realtor's cards
One Georgia realtor is recalling the chaos that ensued when she sent her annual holiday cards to random people.
In a video shared on TikTok on Nov. 27, Jenny Smith of Jenny Smith and Associates Reality in Cartersville, Ga., shared a stressful yet hilarious experience she once had while sending out annual cards to clients.
“Many of us are sending out Christmas cards this week — us included,” Smith, 52, began her video. “And if you’re like us, you make a list of who you’re gonna send your Christmas cards to, then you go buy Christmas cards.”
“And if you’re like me, you go buy extra Christmas cards because you’re afraid that, you know, you forgot somebody,” she added.
However, Smith recalled a past moment, when those extra cards were sent out to others who weren't in her inner circle.
“So, a couple of years ago, we had some cards left over, so we randomly picked some people in our database … and we just sent them a Christmas card. I really thought people would be happy to get a Christmas card," Smith explained.
One man who received a card was not happy, though, and left a message for Smith explaining such.
In the voicemail, which Smith played, the irate man, named David, could be heard saying, “You sent a Christmas card to my house by mistake and now my wife is accusing me of buying a house for a hidden girlfriend."
“You need to straighten this out before it gets very, very ugly," he added.

At the end of her video, Smith warned: “So be careful."
Smith captioned the video, “🎄 Christmas Card Fail Alert! 🎁,” adding, “Ever sent the wrong Christmas card to someone? One year, we did just that—and they were NOT amused. 😬 Picture opening your holiday mail and finding a card that was definitely NOT meant for you! It’s a funny memory now, but at the time? Total Christmas chaos. 🎅😂 Who else has had a holiday fail?”
While speaking to TODAY.com, Smith spoke about the situation with David and his wife, who she said calmed down "immediately" after Smith explained that he was not, in fact, a formal client of hers and that he merely filled out an online form at some point, which automatically added him to her company database.

“She was actually very nice," Smith said of the wife. "They both were ... I said, ‘You know, I come from a church background, where you used to give Christmas cards to everyone at church whether you knew them or not.' ”
As for whether or not she now plans to send out cards to random people in her database this year, Smith told the outlet, "Oh, no! I don't think I will ever do that again."
