Stormzy's Cover-Ready Workout Plan Patrik Giardino

Our fitness director Andrew Tracey explains why it's no longer good enough to slap together some random workouts and call it a 'celebrity training plan'. And, how you can get your hands on the REAL workouts our cover star, Stormzy, followed in the run-up to his MH cover debut.

I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time over the last few weeks thinking about our newly minted cover star, Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. a.k.a Big Mike a.k.a Stormzy. Looks great, doesn’t he?

But listen, gone are the days when it was par for course to stick up one random training session from a Hollywood PT and call it the workout for a particular star. Think "The Wolverine Workout", or "The Daniel Craig James Bond Workout". The average fitness consumer and gym-goer knows – and deserves – better than that now.

That’s why I spent hours in a coffee shop, hunched over a laptop on a Zoom call with Stormzy’s LA trainer, Gregg Miele, enthusiastically discussing the intricacies of post-exhaustion training, mechanical dropsets, rep tempo and intended stimulus. Followed by back-and-forth email chains nailing movement descriptions, exercise substitutions and coach’s notes.

Oh, and we did all of that again with TJ Ossai, champion sprinter and the mastermind coach Stormzy hits up when he’s back on home turf here in the UK. Why? Because, as MH’s Fitness Director, I want to be sure that when we say we have "the Stormzy training plan", we mean it. If nothing else, I’m a stickler for authenticity.

So, while you don’t have his bank balance, his personal chef, or his nutritionist – although you can hear from them and the rest of his team right here – what we can give you is the same gym plan and protocols Stormzy relies on to get tour fit (and cover ready), straight from the experts he trusts.

As a Men’s Health SQUAD member, you can find that plan in the "magazine" tab of the Men’s Health app, where we’ll also be releasing plenty of slick new programmes across 2025. Not a member already? Sign up here for instant access to the Stormzy plan, and so much more.
