Queen Letizia of Spain Accessorizes With Y2K Twists in Cortana Midi Dress at Royal Collections Gallery Alongside King Felipe VI
Queen Letizia of Spain brought back the statement belt trend with her ensemble during a meeting with the board of trustees of The Royal Collection Gallery on Tuesday in Madrid. The Spanish royal was joined by her husband of more than 20 years, King Felipe VI, for the occasion.
At the meeting, Queen Letizia forwent her usual power suiting attire and favored a business look with feminine elements. The Spanish royal wore the Cortana “Felicita” virgin wool dress in gray for the occasion, a look she’s styled as recently as November 2023.

The midi dress is crafted from stretch virgin wool fabric and features an irregular cold dye pattern. Fitted sleeves and a wide V-shaped neckline are standout elements of the midi dress. An added touch of elegance includes the crossed fabric at the front with a pleated side seam, creating a subtle drape effect.
Queen Letizia accented the look with a bold black belt at her waist. The style choice is akin to one the Spanish royal made in January. While visiting the Dexeus Women’s Foundation, where she presented the XIX Dexeus Women’s Foundation Award at the Dexeus University Hospital on Jan. 16, Queen Letizia wore a similar belt with a red Dries Van Noten dress.
As for the rest of her attire, Queen Letizia continued the black accessories motif. She wore patent leather boots and carried a top handle bag. Queen Letizia opted for few accessories, maintaining a minimalist approach to her attire.
As for her glam, Queen Letizia opted to wear her hair with a side part and a flowing style. Her makeup included bold brows and a smokey eye with a glossy lip. The overall appearance of the ensemble merged minimalist, feminine sensibility with a resurgence of a Y2K trend.
Statement belts are among several Y2K styles making a comeback in the mid-2020s. Other trends include low-rise jeans, ballet flats, bell-bottoms and more. Queen Letizia’s iteration on the style gave the statement belt an updated, elevated look.
