Puma and Hyrox have teamed up for a brand new collection
Much like a marathon, if you’re taking on your first Hyrox this year, there’s a lot to consider – from training and nutrition, right down to footwear.
As the official partner of the full-body fitness race, it’s not unusual to see Puma running shoes on the feet of many top Hyrox athletes, including 2024 Women’s World Champion Meg Jacoby and Pro Doubles World Champion Jake Dearden. Now, Puma and Hyrox have joined forces to release a brand new collection, featuring a wide range of performance and lifestyle apparel, as well as the first-ever Hyrox branded footwear.
Because of all the running involved (roughly 8km in total), cross training shoes aren’t recommended for Hyrox. While they have the grip you need for sled pulls and burpee broad jumps, they lack the cushioning required to keep you comfortable during the running sections of the event. Instead, you want a shoe that offers lightweight cushioning and responsiveness, plus excellent grip.
Puma and Hyrox’s latest footwear collection includes three classic Puma silhouettes: the Velocity Nitro, Deviate Nitro 3 and Deviate Nitro Elite 3. We’ve tested all three shoes here at RW. The former is an ideal training partner: cushioned yet versatile enough to work across a variety of exercises and distances. The Deviate Nitro 3 lands somewhere in the middle: it packs in even more of Puma’s Nitrofoam technology to offer a smooth and cushioned ride, with a carbon fibre plate adding propulsion. Then there’s the Deviate Nitro Elite 3, Puma’s lightest-ever race day shoe. RW’s Rachel Boswell wore the shoe to take on the Eva Air Marathon last October and described the Nitro Elite 3’s midsole foam as ‘sturdy, responsive and wondrously lightweight’.

Importantly, all three shoes have PUMAGRIP – a lightweight rubber outsole that provides excellent traction.
Meanwhile, the apparel collection features Puma’s Thermoadapt moisture-wicking technology, which is designed to cool you down when you’re hot and deactivate once cooling is complete.
