Princess Kate Playfully Slapped Prince William's Butt on the BAFTAs Red Carpet

Prince William and Princess Kate showed some surprising PDA at the 2023 BAFTAs.

Last night, the Prince and Princess of Wales made their return to the EE British Academy Film Awards last night, appearing at the esteemed ceremony for the first time since the pandemic began. While most of the focus was on their stylish (and subtly matching) red-carpet looks, the royal couple shared a very sweet blink-and-you-missed-it moment.

As they made their way down the carpet, a video captured Kate giving William a light love tap. In the clip, she smiles as she respectfully pats her husband's behind as they walk into London's Royal Festival Hall.

For the occasion, the princess re-wore the flowy Alexander McQueen gown which she wore to the 2019 ceremony, adding a decorative sash which trailed over her left shoulder. She accessorized the gown with a pair of black velvet opera gloves, which matched William's luxe velvet suit jacket.

Kate finished her look with a pair of ornate gold floral earrings, while carrying a black rectangular clutch. Her hair was worn straight with a middle part, tucked behind her ears to show off her statement jewelry.

Princess Kate has been captured during several candid moments over her and William's BAFTAs history, since they began attending the ceremony together in 2017. For the 2019 ceremony, Kate had a humorous response to the customary (and awkward) silence when they entered the room and walked to their seats.

In one clip, after she arrived at her chair, Kate whispered with a laugh to a woman standing a couple of rows behind her, "It's so quiet!"
