Kate Middleton has been seen for the first time since her cancer diagnosis as she arrived for the Trooping the Colour parade in London.

The Princess of Wales, 42, looked radiant as she arrived by car alongside her husband, Prince William, and her children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. For her return to public duties, Kate stepped out wearing wearing a Jenny Packham dress, hat by Philip Treacy and the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch, as she is the regiment’s Colonel.

It comes after the mum of three confirmed her attendance at the royal event on Friday evening. Kate released a personal message, in which she revealed she would be attending the parade, and said she is making “good progress” in her cancer treatment.

Alongside a candid update on her cancer journey, she can be seen in a beautiful new image. The royal mum-of-three is seen standing under a weeping willow tree as she gazes up at the sky, dressed in a blazer over a white T-shirt, teamed with jeans and trainers. The tranquil picture was taken by Matt Porteous earlier this week in the grounds of the Windsor Castle estate.

Kate issued a lengthy and personal statement, in which she gave an update on her chemotherapy treatment and revealed she has "good days and bad days". The princess has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer since late February.

She said she has begun to work from home, undertaking meetings with her foundation and Kensington Palace team, and hopes “to join a few public engagements over the summer” but stressed “I am not out of the woods yet”.

Kate's return to the public spotlight for Trooping the Colour has been welcomed by her father-in-law, King Charles.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “His Majesty is delighted that the princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events, and is much looking forward to all elements of the day”.

A spokesperson for Prince William said he was "pleased" Kate was starting her return to the work and projects that are important to her". The statement added: "He will continue to focus his time on supporting his wife and children, while continuing to undertake his public duties."

Kate bravely revealed her cancer diagnosis earlier this year in a video message to the nation and since then has been out of the public eye as she undergoes her treatment. At the time, she appealed for time, space and privacy for her young family.

Since then, the future Queen has received thousands of letters and cards from well-wishers, some sharing their own battles with cancer.

King Charles, who has recently returned to public-facing duties while himself receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, has confirmed that he will be in attendance at Trooping the Colour and inspect the soldiers from a carriage rather than on horseback as he has done previously.

The Trooping the Colour parade has marked the sovereign’s birthday for more than 260 years.
