Catherine, Princess of Wales, has a new title.

King Charles III has named Kate as the new honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards, a title that once belonged to Prince William.

The decision is fitting, as the Princes of Wales has honored the guards regiment almost every year on St. Patrick's Day since marrying into the royal family in 2011.

Queen Elizabeth II named Prince William as honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2011, just two months before he married Kate. For their ceremony at Westminster Abbey, William even wore the red Irish Guards officer uniform.

Now that wife Kate has taken over his role, William has received a new one. King Charles named his eldest son Colonel of the Welsh Guards, three months after giving him the title of Prince of Wales, which Charles held before becoming king.

The sovereign's appointments don't end there. King Charles also gave a new title to his wife, Camilla, Queen Consort. She is now also the Colonel of the Grenadier Guards. The title was previously held by Prince Andrew, but his mother, Queen Elizabeth, took away that honor this January, after his sexual assault lawsuit.

King Charles also announced that his first Trooping the Colour, honoring his birthday, will take place on June 17 of next year—though his actual birthday is on November 14.

The celebration will be held just six weeks after his coronation, on May 6. Camilla will also be coronated that day.
