Princess Beatrice has revealed that both she and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi (also known as Edo) have something unique in common, in that they both share the same learning difficulty: dyslexia.

Beatrice, who is expecting her first child in Autumn, revealed the unknown fact about Edo in a recent interview with Hello! about raising children with dyslexia.

The 37-year-old royal is a proud advocate for dyslexics and helps to raise awareness by sharing her own struggles, which she initially became aware of at the age of 7.

Speaking on whether or not she thinks her own child could also have dyslexia, Beatrice said: "My husband's also dyslexic so we'll see whether we're having this conversation in a couple of months' time with a new baby in the house, but I really see it as a gift."

Beatrice added that she was compelled to speak out on the issue because she wants to change the current narrative around the learning difference. "Even referring to it as a diagnosis I feel does a disservice to the brilliance of some of the most fantastic minds that we have," she said. "And I think just shifting the narrative a little bit towards something that is positive, that is impactful, can really help everyone."

The mother-to-be, who recently hinted that she was due to give birth in October, also said of her future little one, "If any child, or future babies that are on their way, are lucky enough to be diagnosed with dyslexia, I feel incredibly grateful to have tools such as the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity to be able to tap into, to give them that extra support. I think it's really important for every parent, that they feel they are not alone in this."

Beatrice and Edo, who recently celebrated their one year wedding anniversary, are currently in Scotland with her sister, Princess Eugenie, and their parents, Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, along with the Queen, at the family's Balmoral estate.
