There have been plenty of royal responses to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement but Prince William's definitely takes the cake. When approached by reporters yesterday, the Duke of Cambridge said he hopes the upcoming royal wedding means his little brother will stop "scrounging" his food.

"We're very excited and delighted for them both, and wish them all the happiness in this very exciting time," William began.

Then came the kicker: "For me, personally, I hope it means he stays out of my fridge and will stop him scrounging my food, which he's done for the last few years."

The Duke of Cambridge isn't exactly exaggerating; a feature on Prince Harry in Newsweek, which published earlier this year, revealed that the younger royal "often pops into their apartment at Kensington Palace, where [Kate Middleton] cooks him a meal - roast chicken is reportedly a particular favourite."

Lo and behold, Harry actually proposed to Meghan at home in Kensington Palace while they were "trying to roast a chicken." It's happening. Prince William's wish is already coming true.

However, that hopefully doesn't mean the brothers will see each other any less; they'll still be neighbours as Meghan Markle moves in with Harry at Nottingham Cottage on palace grounds.

Jokes aside, William sent his well wishes to the couple as they prepare for a royal wedding in May 2018. In fact, it was only six years ago that he and Kate Middleton underwent the same process.

"It's a fantastic process to go through, you know, the engagement, the build-up to the wedding," William added. "So they've got a lot of happy times ahead of them and I think they're very caught up in the moment, and I wish them all the happiness and success in planning the wedding. I hope it goes really well."
