Prince William holds onto 'world's sexiest bald man' crown
Prince William has held onto his crown. Not his gold coronet - although hopefully he hasn't lost that - but his "world's hottest bald man" accolade.
Last year, the Prince of Wales bumped Vin Diesel off the list's top spot to take the title as the sexiest, follicly-challenged man on the planet. Contenders responded with a mix of emotions, with basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal poking fun at his ranking, while Stanley Tucci claimed to be pleased with his position.
This year, Prince William's once again topped the list, followed by Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson in second place and O'Neal in third. Surfer Kelly Slater scored the fourth spot and America’s Got Talent host and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews came in fifth.
The light-hearted study actually has some scientific basis as it analyses facial golden ratio (which has previously crowned Jodie Comer the most beautiful woman in the world), voice attractiveness and global search interest. The research, compiled by digital PR Agency Reboot Online, also takes into consideration each celebrity's cranial shine factor (how shiny their heads are), smile, media perception, height and ‘sexy’ global search interest.
The 'sexiest bald man' list in full:
1. Prince William
The royal received an almost-perfect score of 9.9 out of 10. He ranked first in 2021, slipped to second in 2022 and back up to first in 2023. This year his smooth scalp scored an impressive 74% for luminance, his face achieved 72% on the golden ratio, and his vocal attractiveness is rated a high 9.9 out of 10.
2. Dwayne Johnson
'The Rock' moves up from seventh place in 2023 thanks to an impressive 8.9 out of 10 score. His smile (54%), vocal attractiveness (8.1/10) and ‘sexy’ searches (34,200 yearly) pull him to the near-top of the leaderboard.
3. Shaquille O’Neal
Shaquille O’Neal has no need to be disappointed this year because he’s had a huge jump from ninth to third place with 8.8/10 in 2024. The sports analyst and former basketball player measures 2.16m, making him the tallest bald man on the list. He also steals the top spot for being most vocally attractive (9.95/10). Additionally, Shaq places high for positive media perception (7.8/10).
4. Kelly Slater
After hanging out with Prince Harry last month, professional surfer Kelly Slater earned a spot in the top five with 8.7 out of 10. Despite being one of the shortest celebrities on the list at 1.75m (5.7ft), Kelly makes up for it with high scores across the golden ratio (71%), shine factor (72%), media perception (8.14/10), and smile-to-face size (55%). The surfer also scored an impressive 8.6 out of 10 for vocal attractiveness.
5. Terry Crews
America’s Got Talent host and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star actor Terry Crews entered the top five with a score of 8.61 out of 10 and a shine factor score of 72%.
6. Danny DeVito
What Danny DeVito lacks in height, he certainly makes up for in cranial luminance as the 79-year-old actor came in sixth spot. It seems his appeal hasn't waned with age with a whooping 13,800 searches made for ‘naked’ and ‘shirtless’ Danny Devito every year.
7. Samuel L. Jackson
After being named the ‘sexiest man alive’ by Glamour Magazine last November, the 75-year-old actor appears to be ageing like fine wine, landing an impressive golden ratio score of 7.31.
8. Thierry Henry
Former footballer Thierry Henry proved he’s still got the va-va-voom by coming in eighth place with an impressive vocal attractiveness score of 9.48 and a golden ratio of 8.06.
9. Stanley Tucci
It remains to be seen whether Stanley Tucci will be pleased about his position in the top ten of this year's list. The perennially popular actor scored impressively on vocal attractiveness and positive media perception to slip into ninth spot. Although fans may be surprised he didn't come higher.
10. Vin Diesel
Vin Diesel’s has moved down the rankings for the second year in a row - from first place in 2022, to second in 2023, and now 10th place in 2024.
Noteable top 10 absentees
Harry Hill
Though he didn't quite make the top 10, comedian, Harry Hill, appeared for the first time on this year’s list and ranked way above average thanks largely to his shine factor of 82%, which makes him the shiniest of all bald celebs.
Jeff Bezos
Controversially, Jeff placed fifth in 2023 however a reshuffle in the list meant he’s fallen to a disappointing 41st this year. Interestingly, however, despite his height and media perception scoring low, he has the largest number of ‘sexy’ and ‘shirtless’ searches, with 48,000 searches from admirers each year.
Jason Statham
The eternally popular actor, renowned for his good looks and gritty charm has fallen down the charts this year, from third in 2023 to 27th in2024. This could potentially be attributed to his controversially low score for vocal attractiveness.
