Prince William had a trick up his sleeve to woo Kate Middleton at university

From Cosmopolitan

Prince William and Kate Middleton's relationship sounds like something out of a fairytale. Prince goes to university where he meets and falls in love with young, beautiful woman who goes on to be his wife. But in reality, William had to work a little bit harder than that to seal the deal with Kate.

In last night's Christmassy one-off TV show with Mary Berry, A Berry Royal Christmas, the Duchess of Cambridge revealed the smooth way in which William tried to impress her back in their university days. As the royal teamed up to make a festive roulade with baker extraordinaire Mary, she was asked if her husband ever cooks for her.

"He sometimes does actually," Kate told Mary Berry, adding: "He's very good at breakfast."

The Duchess then went on to share details of how William romanced her in the early days, back when they were studying at St Andrews. "In [our] university days he used to cook all sorts of meals," Kate revealed. "I think that was when he was trying to impress me, Mary."

Ooh, you dark horse, Prince William.

And what was the young royal's speciality back in those days? "Things like Bolognese sauces and things like that," Kate shared.

The Duke of Cambridge's culinary skills obviously went some way to successfully woo Kate; as we know, the couple got married in April 2011 and are now parents to three super-cute royal children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Mum Kate also revealed in the BBC show that one of Prince Louis' favourite foods is beetroot, inspiring Mary Berry to whip up a chocolate beetroot cake for the royal party at the end of the show.

Prince William also featured in A Berry Royal Christmas, and shared that his eldest son George is already organised with a Christmas list for Santa. "He loves his drawing, he's a very good drawer. We might give him something to do with drawing or football. He's loving his football as well," William told Mary and a group of people at The Passage, a homelessness charity in London.

Well, as long as he's been good this year, let's hope he gets some bits off his list.
