Prince William arrives without Kate Middleton at the Duke of Westminster's 'society wedding of the year'

The Prince of Wales has arrived at Chester Cathedral to watch his close friend the Duke of Westminster marry Olivia Henson in the society wedding of the year.

While it was previously suggested that Prince George - who is the Duke's godson - would take on a role as a pageboy on the big day, the young royal is not in attendance. While he is the only senior royal in attendance, Princess Eugenie was also pictured arriving.

Despite having been close friends since they were young - with the Duke also reportedly being made Prince Archie's godfather - Prince Harry has not travelled over from California for the ceremony.

The couple's ceremony will take place at 12pm on Friday, 7 June and will see the bride travel to the Cathedral with her father, Mr. Rupert Henson in a vintage Bentley.

After the ceremony, the Duke and Duchess of Westminster will travel back to Eaton Estate, where they will host a private wedding reception for guests. Eaton is situated just outside Chester City Centre and has been home to the Grosvenor family since the 1400s.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “The Duke and Miss Henson have taken a great deal of care in planning the wedding, putting their own personal stamp on all the arrangements and have made a conscious effort to involve local and regional suppliers in several aspects of the day.

"This is an incredibly special day for the Duke and Miss Henson and they are very much looking forward to the service. The couple have also been moved by the messages of support they have received from around the region and are hugely grateful that people want to share in their happiness."
