Prince Harry And Meghan Have A Date In The Diary To Visit The UK
The Invictus Games are set to return to the UK, with Birmingham the latest city to have won the bid to host the sporting event.
The news was announced in a ceremony this week, with the West Midlands city set to welcome participants as well as Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, when the games return in 2027.
This will be the first time that the UK has hosted the Invictus Games since its inception in 2014. That year, the event was also attended by Prince William, King Charles and Queen Camilla.

While the Prince Harry did not attend the ceremony that confirmed Birmingham as the host, he released a statement enthusing the sporting event’s return to the UK.
'Congratulations to Birmingham, UK, on winning the bid to host the Invictus Games 2027,' Prince Harry said. 'Your city’s strong ties to the Armed Forces community made it a formidable contender from the very start.'
'Over the years, we’ve seen each city bring a unique spirit and vision to life for competitors, their families, and spectators.'
'We have no doubt the people of Birmingham will join in celebrating the unwavering respect and admiration we have for our veteran and service community, showing the world how their courage ignites hope and unites us all – something your city knows well.'
Prince Harry has attended the event with wife Meghan every year since 2017, shortly after they were confirmed to be dating.
The games’ new home in Birmingham could mark Meghan’s return to the UK. The 42-year-old former Suits star has not visited Britain since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
The next Invictus Games will take place in Vancouver-Whistler in Canada, and are scheduled to start in February 2025.
Prince Harry’s statement comes after he appeared at the ESPY Awards earlier this month, having won an award for his work with the sporting event.
