Prince Harry's Invictus Games set for new 2022 date after Netflix announcement

Prince Harry's Invictus Games event has been rescheduled for a third time after having to be postponed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Invictus Games foundation confirmed on Wednesday that the next games will be held from 16-22 April 2022, in The Hague, Netherlands.
Harry, 36, travelled to The Hague in 2019 to launch the Games for 2020, but because of the pandemic the event was delayed - at first until 2021 and then until 2022.
The confirmation of the new date comes the day after Harry was announced as one of the stars and the executive producer of a docu-series about Invictus for Netflix.
The multi-episode programme will be Harry and Meghan's first production for Netflix through Archewell Productions.
Despite the double delay to the games, organisers said they would still be referring to the event in 2022 as the Invictus Games 2020.
It's the fifth games, with previous events held around the world including in Toronto and Sydney.
Invictus was set up by Harry in 2014, and was inspired by a similar project in the US. The sporting event is for injured or wounded former service personnel and veterans.
More than 500 participants from 20 countries will be competing in 10 adaptive sports events.

Wouter Bakker, team captain for the Dutch Team said: "We look forward to experiencing the Games in 2022 as they were meant to be: with friends and family, and with the support of the public from the stands.
"Until then, we will continue to do our best to be fit and prepared, we will keep moving and keep the spirit of the Invictus Games. We look forward to seeing all participants and spectators in good health in The Hague in April 2022."
Mart de Kruif, chairman of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020, said: “We still strive to deliver a safe, surprising and impactful Games. It looks like this should be possible in 2022, and we look forward to hosting them. It was of course a big disappointment that the Invictus Games could not take place, but also understandable in the current situation.
"All the hard work and efforts of the organisation and our partners are very valuable and form a good basis for an even more beautiful event in 2022. As an organisation we also want to show our own resilience and the Invictus Spirit. Now that we have a date to focus on, we and the competitors can set new goals and our Invictus family will show its strength to the world in 2022."

The Archewell and Netflix series will follow some of the athletes as they prepare for the 2020 event, to be held in 2022.
Confirming the project on Tuesday 6 April, Harry said: "Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve. This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands next year.
"As Archewell Productions’ first series with Netflix, in partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation, I couldn’t be more excited for the journey ahead or prouder of the Invictus community for continuously inspiring global healing, human potential and continued service."
