Prince George's cheeky Christmas present annoys Prince William - yet is inspired by Princess Diana
It is well known that the adult members of the Royal Family buy each other jokey presents for Christmas each year, while the children receive normal gifts. From leather toilet seats to singing hamsters and lewd shower caps, there are many examples of unbelievable presents exchanged behind palace walls.
But there is a trend that was started by the late Diana, Princess of Wales when it came to buying birthday and Christmas presents for her godchildren that has been carried on by her close friend for Prince George. This hilarious prank is said to annoy Prince William and we can just imagine Diana loving it!
It is well-known that Diana was the chief prankster of the family and often did naughty things or bought cheeky presents for her sons.

Several stories about Diana’s mischievous antics have been made public but one story that rises above all others is the trick she started to play when she bought presents for her friend's young children.
Julia Samuel had been a close friend and confidant of the late Princess of Wales ever since they met at a dinner party in 1987. The psychotherapist was asked by the Prince and Princess of Wales to become one of Prince George’s godmothers at his Christening in 2013.
Julia has chosen to continue the tradition that Diana used to do when it comes to Prince George’s birthday and Christmas presents - and it is truly hilarious!
Julia disclosed on the How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast that she is still close with the Wales family and carries on Diana's joke of buying the loudest and most difficult to put together present for Prince George, just to annoy Prince William- how mean!
She said of Prince George: “He is amazing. He's funny and feisty and cheeky and God she [Diana] would have loved him so much. That is heart-breaking for all of them.”
She added that she continues the tradition, revealing: “So I do to George what she did to us which is give impossible toys which are really noisy, take a lot of making.”
She explained: “I come in slightly tipped by the size of the present that William then has to spend days putting together.
“And then put all the machinery together and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that. That makes me laugh and it makes George laugh.”
Julia is one of seven godparents for Prince George, and was a touching acknowledgement of William’s late mother.
But buying noisy toys wasn’t the only mischievous trick the late Princess had up her sleeve, as a former royal butler revealed in an interview with The Mirror.
He explained: "[Diana would] spend hours looking for jokey things for their stockings. One year, Harry got fake dog poo."
He also said how Harry not only loved the gift, but that he had a very cheeky plan on how he was going to use it - he wanted to trick his dog-obsessed grandmother with it.
