Pregnant Lea Michele Reveals Multiple Miscarriages in “Painful” Journey to Conceive Second Child

Pregnant Lea Michele has revealed details about the challenging journey to conceive her second child.

The Funny Girl star, who shares son Ever, 3, with husband Zandy Reich, sat down with Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt for an episode of her podcast, BDA Baby, and said that she suffered “two back-to-back very early failed pregnancies.”

“I had never had a miscarriage before,” explained Michele. “The first one, I was like, ‘That was weird.’ When it happened again right away, I was like, ‘Wait a second. Something is wrong.'” The veteran performer continued by saying that she and her husband opted to “step away” from trying while she was working on Broadway.

“It wasn’t until a little bit later [that] I had another,” she stated. “I was working at the time. It was super challenging to…process what we were experiencing at the same time, which was very painful.” The circumstances led Michele to “dive deeper” into the setbacks, an investigation that resulted in an endometriosis diagnosis. It wasn’t the first major medical reveal as Michele previously opened up that while she was trying to conceive her first, she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Following the endometriosis diagnosis, Michele was prescribed “so many drugs and medications” along with “one thousand shots.” The cocktail proved to be successful as she then got pregnant. Michele revealed in May that she and Reich were expecting a daughter.

“At the end of the day, I’m super grateful that with both of my pregnancies, I would say overall, I’m so grateful for the energy that I do have, and I really do love being pregnant,” she told Motherly. “And I’m so grateful and to have the energy, especially right now, to be able to still play with my son and run around with him while being on the last leg of this pregnancy. I think it is a really great gift.”
