Popular Leeds bar shuts leaving huge hole in community
A popular Leeds bar has closed down leaving a huge gap in the Chapel Allerton community.
Alley Cats, based in Harrogate Road, has shut in recent weeks. The team took to social media to send a goodbye message.
On Facebook, they posted: “We took on the venue just over a year ago, and wanted to continue the brilliant community that Dan and the team had built. Watching the happiness in everyone’s faces on the day Alley Cats reopened was incredible.

“Unfortunately, despite the love and hard work, continuing to operate as Alley Cats is no longer an option. Thank you to our wonderful staff for their passion and dedication. You helped to make Alley Cats a welcoming and vibrant place.
“To the Leeds hospitality community; this is an industry full of talented people, and we’d love to connect with anyone who might have opportunities for our team. Please let us know if you have any roles available.
“To our customers; thank you for the memories, the laughter, the singalongs, the drag bingos, and for making Alley Cats such a special part of Chapel Allerton.”
Many regular customers have offered messages of support. Joseph Hamitlon McConnell said: “I’m really sad to see this.I have been following alley cats for a while now from the first venue and I have always enjoyed the food. Wishing all of the best to everyone.”
Matthew Kerrywood said: “Sorry to hear this. Too many great places going down.” Monika Volsing added: “Sad times, good luck all.”
