Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts has become experts on fitting an entire dessert into thin pastries. Need proof? You must not have had the Pumpkin Pie or Frosted Chocolatey Churro flavors yet. Now the brand is bringing back its Frosted Red Velvet Cupcake variety, and it’s sure to be a game-changer for the holidays.

The name of the flavor is pretty self-explanatory, but let’s dive into all the droolworthy details. The pastry itself is flavored to taste like a red velvet cupcake, and that flavor is sealed with the white frosting on top and gooey filling inside. Each one is complete with some sort of red sprinkles or tiny cakey pieces.

The limited-edition flavor first came out in 2013, as documented by The Impulsive Buy. The new packaging, which has been shared by Meijer, highlights the fact that “It’s Back!” This isn’t Pop-Tarts’ first rodeo on the cupcake front, as it unveiled Frosted Confetti Cupcake and Frosted Chocolate Cupcake flavors last year. How will the Red Velvet Cupcake stand up to those two? Let your taste buds do the judging.

“Every pouch delivers delectable pastry crust that tastes like a red velvet cupcake, topped with irresistible frosting and a gooey frosting filling. You can serve warm toaster pastries to your family by putting them in your toaster or heating them in the microwave,” the description says.

This news is extremely fresh (the images and details were just posted on Meijer’s website today), so we’ll have to wait on official word from Pop-Tarts about distribution and availability. Until then, we’ll be dreaming of the eight-count boxes.
