The show's synopsis reads: "Turner plays Doctor Joe O'Loughlin who appears to have a perfect life with a devoted wife, loving daughter, successful practice as a criminal psychologist, media profile and publishing deal.

"When a young woman is found dead, he is only too willing to offer help with his profiling and expertise. But as the investigation into the woman's death gathers pace, we start to ask, do we know the real Joe, or does he have a secret life?"

Alongside Turner, The Suspect boasts a stellar cast, including Small Axe's Shaun Parkes, Vigil's Anjli Mohindra and Adam James, Save Me's Camilla Beeput and Fleabag's Sian Clifford.

Fans were given a first proper look last week with a trailer, which shows Joe trying to unravel the mysterious death.

Speaking previously about the role, Turner said, "I am thrilled to be taking on the complex and demanding role of Joseph O'Loughlin, a man with so much to give but so much to lose, and a hidden darker side."

Based on Michael Robotham's novel, the series will air in five parts and comes from the producers of Line of Duty and Vigil.

The Suspect will premiere on Monday, August 29 at 9pm on ITV, before becoming available on ITV Hub.
