A Place in the Sun host Laura Hamilton candidly shared her experiences of dipping her toes back into the dating pool following her split from hubby Alex Goward after a decade-long union, confessing she tended to get "the 'ick' quite quickly" with new potential love interests.

As the popular presenter is a well-known face on screen, here's a sneak peek into her life off-screen, including her beautiful abode and her all-too-understandable divorce woes.

Divorce drama

Laura, who was born and raised in Kent, shook her followers in early 2022 when she took to Instagram to announce her separation from her husband of nine years and the father of her two children. Accompanying her honest post was a snap of a heartfelt Dr. Seuss quote: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

Tying a personal touch to her update, Laura added: "This isn't something I ever thought I'd be saying but, after 13 years of being together Alex and I have separated. Our children are and always will be our number one priority and we would respect privacy for our family at this time. Laura.", reported the Mirror.

Successfully co-parenting

Laura keeps much of her life off-screen private, but has spoken a few times about the challenges of creating a happy and healthy environment while co-parenting with an ex partner. Speaking to Hello! magazine about the decision to part ways with her ex, she said: "It was a decision we both came to. We have an enormous amount of respect for each other, but we are now on different paths. At the point it was announced, we'd already overcome a lot of difficult times. But I am lucky that we have the relationship and respect for each other that we have, and our children's happiness will always be our priority."

Despite the challenges of their split, Laura and her ex-husband have remained committed to co-parenting their two children, Rocco, 10, and Tahlia, 8. They've even managed to enjoy family holidays together in Spain and Greece, showcasing their dedication to maintaining a friendly relationship for their children's sake.

Moving on

Laura has confessed that finding a new partner hasn't been a walk in the park, as she gets "the ick" fairly quickly. Speaking to The Sun, she said previously: "I've been on some great dates, to some lovely restaurants, on a picnic, to the theatre. But I get the 'ick' quite quickly.

"Once I've got the ick, I'm done. Usually after two dates I know he isn't my Prince Charming and then I don't think it's fair to waste anyone's time. If it's not a 'F***, yes', it's a 'No'. I'm a complete romantic. For me, it's all about chemistry and a genuine connection.

Stunning home

When it comes to home decor, Laura's taste is as impeccable as her hosting skills on A Place in the Sun. Her abode is the epitome of elegance, boasting a kitchen renovation that features a chic marble island and bespoke dining set with trendy rattan chairs.

Laura couldn't contain her excitement recently over her nearly finished kitchen revamp, sharing glimpses of the transformation on Instagram. Alongside images of her stylish space, she said: "My Kitchen is almost finished - there is still a fair bit of painting to do but I LOVE IT! It has been a rollercoaster of a journey and like all projects things haven't always gone to plan.

"I have designed my property from start to finish (the end is in sight) and Rocco and Tahlia have been very much part of the journey too. I think they have enjoyed watching it progress each week and seeing it transform from a 'build project' to a 'HOME'."
