Pictured: Father killed in horror smash in Waltham Abbey
Tributes have been paid to a father killed in a horror smash which also claimed the lives of a woman and her dog.
Stuart McDonald, 52, and a woman, in her 30s, were taken to hospital after their Mini collided with a BMW in Parklands, Waltham Abbey, at 1pm on Monday.
An Essex Police spokesman confirmed on Tuesday that two people in the Mini and a dog died from their injuries.
Mr McDonald, originally from Beith in Ayrshire, was a grandfather and described as a “man of many trades” with a speciality as a waterproofer.
His son Robert, travelling to the scene from Scotland, said he didn’t know who the woman killed alongside his father was. He believed the dog was owned by her.
Paying tribute to his father, he told The Standard: “He was the stand out person in a room, a person you would remember him forever instantly his laughter. He was amazing, always smiling.
“He was a loving father and grandfather to me, my sister and my children. My oldest son Ryan is absolutely devastated that his grandpa has gone to heaven.
“I did not know the lady he was in the car with but my heart goes out to her family and friends.”
Mr McDonald lived locally in Waltham Abbey, Essex.
Stuart’s niece added on Facebook: “Heartbroken, you’re gonna be sorely missed by us all, can’t get your face out of my head.
“That big smile I’ll never forget, your back with our auld Anna and Jim now, you’ll be getting your ear nipped from Anna, rest easy uncle Stuart love you forever! Shine on you crazy diamond.”
An Essex Police spokesman appealed for witnesses to come forward.
He said: “We can now confirm the occupants of the Mini, a man aged in his 50s and a woman aged in her 30s, have died from their injuries.
“We continue to appeal for anyone who either witnessed the incident or recorded it on dashcam to come forward and speak to us if they have not already done so.”
