Phillip Schofield teases career comeback as he says 'watch this space' in cryptic update
Former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has teased a comeback to showbiz, as he took to his Instagram story to write: "Watch this space... 9am," alongside a winking emoji. No other information was provided, but it looks like fans can expect to see what the 62-year-old has been working on tomorrow (Wednesday 25 September), morning.
On May 20 2023, the presenter announced he would be stepping down from This Morning after 20 years on the show, which he presented with co-host Holly Willoughby. Holly later also exited the show and now Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley are hosts, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary also presenting.
Following his exit from the show, Phillip admitted to an "unwise but not illegal affair" with a younger male colleague. He also announced he would be stepping down from his roles at ITV. Phil also presented Dancing on Ice with Holly, who said on her Instagram at the time: "When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not. It's been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie."

Shortly after his resignation, the broadcaster said they were "let down" by the star. "The relationships we have with those we work with are based on trust. Phillip made assurances to us and his agency which he now acknowledges were untrue and we feel badly let down," they said in a statement at the time.
In October last year, Holly quit the show after 14 years. In a statement, she said: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning. It's been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family," before concluding: "I will miss you all so much."
In March, Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley were announced as permanent hosts on the show.
Phil has kept a relatively low profile since, although he has recently become more active on his social media profiles. His last post on Instagram came earlier this month, showcasing him enjoying a day out on the tennis courts, as he penned in the caption: "If Eric Morecambe played tennis."
Rumours have since been circulating that the star could be set to 'redeem his image' by participating in this year's I'm A Celebrity, after he was spotted enjoying a chat with host Declan Donnelly, although nothing has been confirmed.
