People Are Sharing Simple Food Combinations That Are Way, Way More Than The Sum Of Their Parts
Have you ever randomly decided to mix two different ingredients together, only to be totally blown away by the flavor? Well, Redditor u/SenseiRaheem asked, "What simple [food] blends are you obsessed with?" Here's what people said.
."American cheese, eggs, and kimchi. It's great on a sandwich, over rice, or in ramen. It's a perfect balance."
."Roasted, salted pecans and Parmigiano shavings. This flavor combo is my kryptonite."
.Pretty much any fruit served with Tajín: Sliced pineapple, mango, cucumber, jicama. You really can't go wrong."
."Currently obsessed with chopped tomatoes mixed with lime juice, salt, and pepper. Mix it all together, let it sit for 15 minutes, and suddenly you have this amazing blend of tangy and umami."
."Watermelon with feta cheese. Add some balsamic glaze, and it’s complete. If you want to get fancy, add some mint."
."Crush a garlic clove with plenty of salt. Add a glug of olive oil and about half that much balsamic or cider vinegar. Pour over chopped tomatoes and let sit for a few minutes while you get the rest of dinner ready."
."Chimichurri, a sauce made from lots of fresh herbs, olive oil, garlic, and vinegar. I can’t stop making it."
."Sliced cucumbers with fish sauce."
."Olive oil, Parmesan, and black pepper on a plate for eating with a loaf of bread."
."If you mix vanilla soft serve and soy sauce, it makes something akin to butterscotch flavored ice cream."
."I get a little bruschetta-obsessed during tomato season. Garden ripe tomatoes, chopped white onion, lots of fresh basil and garlic, EVOO, and deliciously thick balsamic vinegar on a freshly baked crusty baguette. Heaven."
."Miso and butter. I mix the two ingredients into a paste and put it onto pretty much any vegetable before roasting them. It takes plain old veggies to the next level."
."Cream cheese and za’atar is a great combo. Try it on bagels, toast, or anything of the sort."
."Cream cheese and pepper jelly is so simple, yet it hits pretty much every flavor note you could want, IMO..."
."Peanut butter and honey mixed together over toast. Peanut butter is already good, but this adds a lot of sweetness and just enough consistency to coat the toast. It's so delicious."
."Tabasco and Parmesan cheese on buttered popcorn. Yup."
.Cottage cheese and a sliced ripe banana. I despise fruit in cottage cheese, but this combo is more than the sum of its parts. It's just totally elevated."
."Figs with blue cheese and prosciutto. Cut the figs in half, top them with a dollop of nice blue cheese, wrap in a bit of prosciutto, and throw them under the broiler just long enough for everything to get warm."
."Honey and ricotta mixed together and served on bread is my new favorite breakfast."
."My dad always ate strawberries with fresh jalapeño slices, and I always looked at him funny until I tried it for myself."
."I make a green salsa with very ripe kiwi, avocado, and cucumber. It is mindblowing!"
