People are accusing Taylor Swift of fully ripping off Beyonce's 'Party' video
Fans are accusing Taylor Swift of ripping off Beyonce's 'Party' video with her new, star-studded video for 'You Need To Calm Down'.
There are several similarities in style, and people are hitting Twitter with side-by-sides.
Have you watched Taylor Swift's 'You Need To Calm Down' music video yet? Because there's honestly so much to talk about. First of all, there's the abundance of easter eggs to analyse: What! Do! They! All! Mean! But there's also the fact that the music video is being accused of stereotyping and being pretty tone-deaf. But now? Now people are out here claiming that Tay's video is a direct rip-off of Beyonce's 'Party' video. Hmmm... let's start by watching both?
Here's ya girl Tay-Tay:
And here's the living legend known as Queen Bey:
As Twitter points out, there are actually a lot of similarities between the two videos:
If Taylor Swift wants people to stop accusing her of ripping off Beyoncé, maybe she should quit ripping off Beyoncé. Her whole “above-ground pool party in a trailer park” vibe cribs a lot of shots from Bey’s “Party” video. This is just one example. pic.twitter.com/VsyUIOWbKe

#Beyonce had left over props from her Party video... it’s nice she is letting the girls use her things. 💅🏿

Beyonce's music video for "Party" has what "You Need to Calm Down" wishes it had... pic.twitter.com/kwhhDgNfwN

Also, Taylor Swift’s new video is the Walmart/Kidz Bop version of Beyoncé’s Party video

#YouNeedToCalmDown would be a beautiful (yet opportunistic) salute to the LGBT community if it weren’t a direct rip-off of Beyoncé’s #Party video 🧐 pic.twitter.com/NH3J3taX95

Is it just me or is @taylorswift13 video #calmdown a total rip off of @Beyonce #party ?

all of the photo stills from Taylor swifts new music video look like Beyoncé’s party video mixed with a lil Feeling myself video.

But that doesn't mean Tay intentionally copied Bey! And of course, some people are defending Taylor, like this fan who tweeted "y'all are tripping if you're saying Taylor Swift copied Beyonce's 'Party'. Taylor didn't just have a pool party, she literally showed off everything supporting the LGBTQ+ community and did it in a fun manner."
y'all are tripping if you're saying Taylor Swift copied Beyonce's Party. Taylor didn't just have a pool party, she literally showed off everything supporting the LGBTQ+ community and did it in a fun manner. i love Bey, but i think the Beyhive is tRIPPIN this time

Either way, this isn't the first time Taylor has been accused of ripping off Beyonce. Twitter fully lost it during her debut performance of 'ME!' at the Billboard Music Awards, which started with a drumline that had a verrrrry similar vibe to Beyoncé's iconic Coachella performance.
TAYLOR SWIFT JUST BIT TF OUTTA BEYONCE ON THE BILLBOARD AWARDS ... I’m 💀😭😭😭💀💀💀💀 where is the beyhive???? pic.twitter.com/hWvRcKK4an
