‘Pebble Banksy' Jim Young from Swansea a poetry hit

Born in Dylan Thomas’s “ugly, lovely town” of Swansea, resides the self-dubbed the ‘Pebble Banksy'.

Jim Young, 72, has become quite the local celebrity, with visitors from all around the world recognising him for his notable pebble poems which can be found on the benches that overlook Rotherslade Bay Beach, Gower.

Jim who is also known as ‘Jim the Swim,’ is passionate about the Swansea area and swimming in the sea daily, including the fresher winter months, and it this inspiration that can be found in the carefully crafted words of his poems.

With no particular theme to his poetry, the words and flow of the poems come naturally to Jim in what is more of a feeling before being scribed onto the pebbles.

Some of Jim’s poems are long, others are what as known as ‘haiku’, a short, un-rhymed, verse form of poetry which originated in Japan.

From his quant beach hut which overlooks the beautiful bay, Jim loves nothing more than seeing others reading his ever growing collection of work as he believes poetry is for everyone to enjoy.
