“It’s outrageous; the best one I've ever found”: this is the lip balm Keira Knightley swears by

While the official start of spring is just weeks away, the cold snap persists, and lips keep suffering. So it's a good time to be armed with a protective, nourishing lip treatment, and tapping into those that the A-list swear by is an excellent place to start.

“I’ve tried every lip balm going but this one is outrageous... it’s like a bit of treasure – and I don’t have much left," says Keira Knightley of her favourite: La Mer The Lip Balm. "It’s the best one I’ve ever found; it gives [the lips] a nice, silky gorgeousness. I don’t like it when lip balms are sticky, and there’s nothing sticky about this little guy. It’s a treasured possession.”

This tiny pot of wonder is also a favourite on the Bazaar beauty desk and, while it's not inexpensive (a fact that Knightley is quick to point out), it's worth every penny. Plant extracts and seed oils abound in this formula, which has been painstakingly developed to give the lips a beautifully hydrated, cushion-y feeling, without any stickiness or greasiness.

For Alexa Chung, meanwhile, juicy lips come courtesy of the Lanolips Lip Treatment. "Ooh this is good – it's really hydrating and gooey, but in a non-sticky way. It's also super coconut-y," says Chung. "Sometimes I'll apply a little lipstick and put some of this on top to make [my lips] feel more comfortable." This comfort is thanks to a generous inclusion of protective occlusive lanolin, combined with vitamin E and coconut oil.

And it can't be a lip care round up without the OG, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, a favourite of Jenna Ortega's since her Wednesday and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice make-up artist Nirvana Jalalvand put her onto it. "I was wearing dark lipstick on Wednesday, and because it was really matte, it was drying my lips out. This is thick and dense and if you put it on before bed, your lips feel full and rejuvenated [by morning]," says Ortega. A legend for decades, this wonder balm heals thanks to a combination of petrolatum and vitamin E that few other formulas can rival. "It's an incredible product; I have it with me everywhere."
