Outer Banks season 3: Meet Andy McQueen and Lou Ferrigno Jr, the newest cast members

We probably don’t need to remind you that season 3 of Netflix’s hit show Outer Banks drops on the streaming service today [23rd February]. Picking up directly where season 2 left off, we find the Pogues attempting to find the hidden treasure and clear the name of John B – played by Chase Stokes – on the deserted island that they find themselves on.

We can’t wait to see what kind of storylines play out in the new season, which also sees the addition of several brand new cast members.

Described as a “ruthless Caribbean don on a treasure hunt of his own”, hinting that he may be the next OB villain, Carlos Singh – played by the actor Andy McQueen – could signify trouble for the crew, especially if he turns out to be a mafia leader of some sorts. And every good villain needs a faithful sidekick, which we see in the form of Carlos Singh’s right hand man, Ryan – portrayed by actor Lou Ferrigno Jr.

So, let’s find out a bit more about the two actors taking on these new roles in the show and what to expect from them.

Who is Andy McQueen (who plays Carlos Singh)

Many will know Canadian actor Andy McQueen from playing Detective Malik Abed in the TV series Coroner or his role as Sayid in the post apocalyptic drama Station Eleven. He’s also had guest appearances in the likes of The Handmaid’s Tale and the 2018 adaptation of Fahrenheit 451.

The 32-year-old actually studied political science at university, before enrolling in the Canadian Film Centre’s Actors Conservatory program. Since then he has focused solely on his acting career and was even nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for best-supporting actor for playing Singh in 2020’s Disappearance At Clifton Hill.

Given the actor's fantastic resume, we've got a feeling that he will bring something special to role of antagonist Carlos Singh on Outer Banks.

Who is Lou Ferrigno Jr (who plays Ryan)

Now, if the name sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Lou Ferrigno Jr is the son of famous bodybuilder and The Incredible Hulk actor, Lou Ferrigno Sr.

Before he followed in his famous father’s acting footsteps, Lou Jr graduated from the University Of Southern California with a degree in communication and business law. He also had a brief American football career, even playing as a walk-on linebacker for the USC Trojans at the 2007 Rose Bowl Championship, before an injury to his knee ended those aspirations and he turned his hand to acting.

Over the years, the 38-year-old has appeared in everything from Teen Wolf and How I Met Your Mother, to the American soap opera, Days Of Our Lives. But his most notable acting role to date has got to be as sergeant Donovan Rocker in CBS’ police procedural drama, S.W.A.T.

We're definitely looking forward to seeing what he brings to the role of Ryan in Outer Banks. Netflix describes him as Carlos Singh’s “calm and collected but young and hungry top security officer and enforcer,” so his SWAT training may come in handy. Let’s just say it sounds like he won’t be letting the Pogues get away with much in season 3.

One other new character will be joining the fray in the new season – new Pogues member and Kooks wannabe, Sofia – who is played by actress Fiona Polama.

You can watch the latest season of Outer Banks – as well as catching up with the two previous seasons – now on Netflix.
