Oreo Has a New Mint Chip Flavor Just in Time for Summer
Mint Chip Oreos, not to be confused with classic Mint Oreos, have a waffle cone embossment on each cookie
Here’s the scoop on the latest Oreo flavor.
The cookie mavericks want fans to cool off with a limited-edition minty fresh flavor: Mint Chip. Mint Chip Oreos, not to be confused with classic Mint Oreos, are modeled after the classic ice cream flavor — even down to the cone.
The limited-time flavor combines two classic chocolate cookies with a waffle cone embossment, mint chip-flavored cream and little chocolate chips. They hit stores nationwide on July 8.
Oreo's other recent flavors were also influenced by other desserts. In April there was the Sour Patch Kids Oreo and in March, the Nabisco brand released Dirt Cake and Churro flavored cookies.
Dirt Cake, a nostalgic summertime recipe typically made with layers of pudding and crushed Oreos to resemble "dirt," was a limited-time treat for the Oreo lineup. The classic chocolate Oreo cookies sandwiched a layer of chocolate creme and wafer crumbs. Plus, the cookies were topped with gummy worm-inspired sprinkles.
Churro Oreos came back to the market on March 27 and sandwiched churro-flavored cream between fried dough-flavored golden cookies.
The snack brand introduced churro-flavored cookies in 2019 as a Mystery Oreo. At the time, the cookies were packaged with an ambiguous white label and looked identical to regular Oreos with chocolate-colored cookies and vanilla-colored cream.
In more dessert news, Hailey Bieber teamed up with Cosmic Bliss to sell pints of strawberry ice cream inspired by her viral Strawberry Glaze Skin smoothie at Erewhon. They are available now at Sprouts.
The pints of dairy-free ice cream feature most of the same flavors as the trendy Erewhon-exclusive drink — like three types of coconut products (milk, syrup and cream!) strawberries, strawberry swirl and vanilla extract.
“I can’t wait for everyone to try it,” the Rhode skincare founder told PEOPLE ahead of the release on June 4.
