You Can Only Get to This Remote $23 Million Compound in Canada by Plane, Boat or Helicopter
At the edge of Canada’s western coast, near some of the world’s most pristine wilderness, is the Princess Louisa Lodge, a sprawling 418-acre trophy compound named after the nearby Princess Louisa Inlet, a small fjord surrounded by majestic waterfalls, granite walls, and high mountain peaks. With hundreds of unspoiled acres and direct access to the crystal-clear Jervis Inlet, Princess Louisa Lodge feels like you’re sequestered at the edge of the world. And, indeed, due to its remote location, the secluded property can only be accessed by boat or a 50-minute plane or helicopter ride from Vancouver. Now available for $23 million (CAD$33 million), this is the first time that Princess Louisa Lodge has ever been listed for sale.
The legacy property has seven primary structures plus additional outbuildings that are connected via a network of paved roads that wind throughout the wilderness. The current owners have spent decades piecing together this property and making it as luxurious as possible while still retaining an authentic cabin feel. Altogether, there are a total of 24 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, not including the staff accommodations.

What’s unique about this property, especially one of this magnitude, is that it’s completely self-sufficient and self-contained, with fresh water and hydro-generated electricity supplied from the year-round flow of water that comes from one of the many mountain waterfalls on the property. And there are three redundant satellite systems to keep you connected to the modern world.
The 7,143-square-foot main residence, known as The Lodge, has eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and two kitchens. Crafted from red cedar logs and anchored by a double-height great room with a wall of glass, the home directly overlooks the lake and mountains beyond. There are stone fireplaces, multiple terraces, and an expansive waterfront deck.
The Guest House spans a generous 6,082 square feet and has a total of eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms, as well as a three-bay garage that holds off-road vehicles and water toys. The quaint Writer’s Cabin, a charming two-bedroom, two-bath cabin spanning just 1,086 square feet, is located right at the water’s edge with a waterside patio and hot tub.

Other areas of the estate include the Day Camp, an entertainment pavilion that can be used for indoor games during winter, yoga, or meditation; The Hall, an events spaces with a vaulted ceiling that also can be transformed into a greenhouse; and The Farm, an area planted with raspberry and blueberry bushes, seasonal vegetables, more than two dozen fruit trees, a pond, waterfall, and a waterside cabana. And, since it takes a team to run a property like this, it only makes sense that there are two separate lodges for staff, one set close to the water and the other, with a workshop and storage warehouse, positioned higher up on the mountain.
Those who prefer city life need not apply as Princess Louisa Lodge is the perfect jumping off point for nature-fueled experiences, from salmon fishing and whale watching to boating, hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. The property also has a private dock, and the Jervis Inlet is ideal for tranquil kayaking or paddle boarding.
The rare offering is listed with Faith Wilson of her eponymous brokerage Faith Wilson, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate in Vancouver.
