The One Show co-presenter Alex Jones made her official comeback yesterday (January 4) following four months of maternity leave.

She and husband Charlie Thompson welcomed their third child together back in August – a daughter named Annie, sister to sons Kit and Teddy.

Reunited with Jermaine Jenas, she spoke her New Year's resolution, particularly in terms of dealing with her anxiety towards leaving baby Annie at home.

"Mine, Jermaine, is to be a little bit more relaxed, so today [is my] first official day back from maternity. My husband Charlie [is] on paternity and I need to learn to let go a bit of things at home. Let him do it his way. [It's] tricky," she explained.

"You don't seem too happy with Charlie..." her co-host quipped, before Jones quickly insisted: "No, no, no, it's all good. A little bit anxious, but yeah it's fine."

In May of last year, the Welsh TV star admitted that she originally mistook her pregnancy for something completely different.

"I just felt really tired but, of course, in hindsight I was pregnant. I thought it was the veganism making me drained of energy but it wasn't.

"It was a funny thing because we hadn't necessarily planned on a third [kid]. We were so grateful to have the two boys and we just thought, 'There you are'. So, it was a huge surprise. And when we also realised that it was a girl, we were just ecstatic. Because I don't know, it wasn't something that we ever expected, but actually three feels great and nice."

The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One.
