Dull skin? It's time to brighten it up - and we know an easy way to do so.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and one of the most in demand skincare ingredients; in fact, according to a survey by Boots, 65% of women consider it to be the most important skincare ingredient they use, and 6,700 avid Googlers search for it in the UK every month.
So if you've been battling with pale, winter skin, Olay has just released two new products you may want to know about.
Combining a supercharged and new pioneering Vitamin C + AHA formula, Olay’s experts evaluated over 500 ingredient combinations to identify the most effective partner for Vitamin C before it came across the AHA24 breakthrough.
What is AHA24, you ask? The Vitamin C is paired with a combination of Lactic Acid and Niacinamide to deliver a brighter and a more even skin tone, as well as hydration.
The latest collection is made up of two powerful products for everyday use: a hydrating day moisturiser, Olay Vitamin C + AHA24 Day Gel Face Cream, and lightweight day serum, Olay Vitamin C + AHA24 Day Gel Serum, which may be just what your skincare routine has been missing.
How it works
We spoke to Dr Sonia, Clinical Dermatology Expert for Olay to find out exactly why the new formula is great for dull, winter skin.
For starters, we asked the expert what is AHA24 and why is it important in skincare?
"Olay Vitamin C +AHA24 is a light-weight serum/cream that contains Vitamin C (which brightens and evens out skin tone), with a gentle exfoliant lactic acid. This is an AHA (Alpha-Hydroxy Acid) and is considered the top AHA for sensitive skin types that helps to brighten skin and fade hyperpigmentation", she explains.
The products also includes Niacinamide, which Dr Sonia explains is "a skin barrier strengthening ingredient, which is great for acne prone skin and fights hyperpigmentation."
And not forgetting the all important Vitamin C which Sonia confirms is "the ultimate powerhouse ingredient and delivers a variety of skincare benefits. It is a brilliant antioxidant, which fights free radical damage, brightens the skin and fades hyperpigmentation."
As for how you should use the product?
Be sure to always go thinnest to thickest texture.
"Start with the most watery consistency and follow with thicker textures" says Sonia who suggests applying a serum such as Vitamin C after your morning cleanse and then follow it up with a moisturiser.
She adds that "sunscreen should always be the last step in your morning routine...it helps protect your skin against any sun damage, helps preserve collagen and prevent worsening of hyperpigmentation (this can occur commonly in 40s due to being perimenopausal/menopausal)."
"It really is the best anti-aging ingredient out there. Pairing sunscreen with Vitamin C – they’re the ultimate power couple in skincare in my opinion as Vitamin C enhances photoprotection when used with sunscreen."
So we suggest also popping one of Olay's top-rated SPFs into your basket as well.
