Attention: these are officially the most popular baby names in the UK

Whether you're keen to follow the trends with baby names, or you're desperate to know what everyone else is calling their newborns (so your child won't be one of five in a class with the same name), it's always interesting to take a look at what the most popular baby names are in the UK – and rather handily, the Office of National Statistics have just shared their latest update, revealing the most popular names for babies born in England and Wales in 2023.

Of course, while baby naming trends come and go over the years, plenty do seem to stick around for a long stretch of time, so it probably won't come as much of a shock then that Olivia is still at the top of the list – and has been for quite some time (eight years, to be exact!).

Noah has also been a firm favourite for three years now, but has been relegated to second place as Muhammad claims the top spot.

Plenty of newer monikers have been steadily on the up too in recent years, with new parents getting inspired by the entertainment world, from the likes of the Barbie movie (hello, Margot coming in at number 44!) and Daisy Jones and the Six (Daisy jumped up four places from 21 to 17). While not in the top 100, Elton John's turn at headlining Glastonbury may even have played a part in 20 boys being called Elton in 2023, too!
