An official name has been revealed for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix docu-series – along with two first look trailers and a release date...

For a while now, rumours have been swirling that 8 December is when the highly-anticipated Sussex series will drop on Netflix – and today, that date has been confirmed as the premiere for 'volume one' of the six-parter, with 'volume two' coming on 16 December.

The title of the series was originally set to be Chapters, but we can now also confirm that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new docu-series will be simply titled 'Harry & Meghan'.

Throughout the in-depth documentary series, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to share the more private side of their high-profile love story across six episodes, along with further examining the Royal Family's relationship with the press. The series promises to explore the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to 'step back' from their full-time roles within 'The Firm'.

There are expectations that the six-part series will show talks and interviews that mention other members of the royal family too, including Harry’s father, King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, and Prince William. A picture of Prince William and his wife, Catherine Middleton, Princess of Wales, also appears very briefly in the first trailer too, along with a clip of Princess Diana in the second.

When is Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix series airing?

In September 2020, after stepping down as senior working members of the royal family, Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, signed a multi-million dollar deal with the streaming platform – rumoured to be in the region of approximately £88 million. The docu-series is the first time we’ll see that deal in action, and it’s already shaping up to be a good binge watch - as it’s directed by veteran filmmaker Liz Garbus (Bobby Fischer Against The World, What Happened, Miss Simone? and Ariana Grande: Excuse Me, I Love You).

As for when it’ll be airing to the public, a second trailer for the series has confirmed the 8 December is when volume one will be dropping, with volume two coming a week later on 16 December. So, we're guessing that means three episodes will be ready to watch on 8 December and a further three on 16 December.

And if you didn’t already know by now, Harry has his memoir, SPARE, coming out in January too.

What is Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new series about?

Meghan, who has her own podcast, Archetypes, spoke to The Cut in August about what viewers can expect from the documentary. She explained that the series would shine a spotlight on her relationship with her husband: 'The piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see, is our love story.'

However, the two trailers we've seen so far seem to go a lot deeper than that, and shows Meghan crying at one point and Prince Harry discussing his concerns for his partner, due to press intrusion. The second trailer also sees the Sussexes allege that members of the Royal Family household not only leak stories to the papers, but 'plant' them too.

Harry & Meghan part one will be dropping on Netflix on 8 December, with part two following a week later on 16 December.

For now, we have two teaser trailers to get stuck into:
