Nigella's stunning Autumnal Birthday Cake is causing a stir on social media
If you're a fan of baking and have love one's birthday coming up in the next few weeks – or if you just fancy treating yourself – then we definitely recommend recreating Nigella Lawson's stunning Autumnal Birthday Cake.
The celebrity cook shared a photo of her show-stopping cake on her Instagram, and it has caused quite a stir. The gorgeous bake is made from maple-flavoured sponge, and covered and filled with a maple meringue frosting.
Nigella's cake had been recreated by a budding chef named Nathan, who is participating in a 365-day 'Nigella cookalong' to raise money for FareShare, the UK's national network of charitable food redistributors, which aims to relieve food poverty and reduce food waste.
'It's the wonderful @365daysofnigella's birthday today, and he's made my Autumnal Birthday Cake to celebrate and, as ever, he's made and photographed it so beautifully,' Nigella captioned her post. 'Happy Birthday, Nathan, and thank you for your uplifting blog and posts.'
The recipe was adapted from the Magnolia Bakery Cookbook and originally featured in Nigella's 2000 cookbook How to be a Domestic Goddess.
