Nicki Minaj is not afraid of speaking her mind, even at a fashion show.

During Philipp Plein’s show at New York Fashion Week, the rapper had a lot to say about cultural appropriation within the fashion industry. She also thanked the German designer for his diverse show, “Thank you Philipp Plein for including our culture,” Nicki told The Cut.

The epic catwalk extravaganza saw Dita von Teese perform a burlesque striptease in a martini glass, Future spit bars, and Tayana Taylor shut down the catwalk. So, all in all, it was less like a typical NYFW show, and more like one very memorable party.

However, Nicki found it memorable for another reason, as it celebrated diversity and people of all cultures. This could also be seen from the eclectic mix of A-listers sat front row, including Tiffany Trump, 50 Cent, Ne-Yo, Young Thug and Paris Hilton.

Nicki continued to voice her opinions, saying, “Designers get really big and really rich off of our culture, and then you don’t see a motherf**ker that look anything like us in the front row half the time. So, let’s make some noise for Philipp Plein tonight.”

So, whilst the catwalks may have made massive strides in inclusivity in recent years, Nicki strongly feels that there is still a long way to go.
