Nickelodeon's ousted "iCarly" creator, Dan Schneider, was reportedly paid *7 million* to leave the network, and wtf?
Following Dan Schneider’s exit from Nickelodeon, new information has come to light that makes the longtime collaborator’s leave all the more troubling. Schneider reportedly took a massive $7 million payout.
On Monday, March 26th, Deadline reported that the children’s network had ended its creative relationship with Dan Schneider, who is responsible for shows such as iCarly, Zoey 101, Sam & Cat, The Amanda Show, and many more — and is credited with making stars out of Ariana Grande, Jamie Lynn Spears, Amanda Bynes, Victoria Justice, and so on.
His exit followed years of questions about how he behaved toward his young stars.
“For years, Schneider had been under a cloud of suspicion over the treatment of some younger stars of his shows. Among the things that have raised eyebrows are his tweeted photos of the toes of his young female stars,” Deadline wrote, going on to describe how Schneider also reportedly had issues with “bloated budgets,” “long production days,” and his “well-documented temper” in his time at Nickelodeon. Not to mention, staff members had reportedly made complaints of abusive behavior by him.
This alleged behavior has been documented on social media, as well. One very detailed, viral Twitter thread, for example, accuses Schneider of being a “pedophile” who sexualizes the young stars in his shows.

According to a Page Six source, the allegations of inappropriate behavior aren’t true. “A source close to Schneider strongly denied he had been inappropriate with his younger stars, but did admit of his temper, ‘He could be an a - - hole,'” the outlet writes.
Additionally, “A source claimed Schneider had been the victim of false online smears, and that his exit comes amid a change of management at the network, a disagreement over the ending for Game Shakers and a fight over studio space.”
Still, the extensive allegations are troubling — and all the more so, if true, considering Schneider was reportedly paid a very large sum to leave the network.
That large sum, again, being SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS, as Page Six reports.
