NHL stars, wives & girlfriends go spooky and silly for Halloween: From Auston Matthews to Carey Price, vote on the best costumes

Several hockey players tuned into the Halloween season with their WAGs and families.

Some of the biggest names in the NHL — and many of their respective wives and girlfriends — are getting into the spooky season this Halloween, showing off costumes that are entirely worth raving over. Between Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly and his Olympic ice dancer wife Tessa Virtue, to Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price and wife Angela, several athletes and their families are stepping out in style.

From characters featured in hit movies like the Harry Potter franchise and Inside Out, to fun takes on things like beekeepers and mobsters, continue reading to to see some of the best Halloween costumes we've seen across the NHL. Then, vote below on who you think was the best dressed this Halloween.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly and Olympian Tessa Virtue went all out with their Halloween costumes. The Canadian icons dressed as characters from the Beetlejuice movie, with Rielly as the troublesome ghost and Virtue as Lydia Deetz.

Montreal Canadiens Goalie Carey Price and wife Angela channelled their best superheroes for Halloween, dressing up as Batman and Catwoman. They brought their three kids — Liv, Lincoln and Millie — into the fun, too, dressing as Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and Supergirl.

Nashville Predators centre Colton Sissons dressed up as the infamous doll, Chucky, from the Child's Play franchise. To match, the North Vancouver-born NHL player's girlfriend, Libby Reese, dressed as Tiffany Valentine from the horror movie series.

Nicolas Aubé-Kubel and wife Madison went for the cute factor for this year's Halloween costume — and it involved the entire family. The Alberta-born NHLer, who's a forward for the Washington Capitals, dressed as a bumblebee, while Madison dressed as a beekeeper. Their baby son, Théodore Jean, as well as the couple's two dogs, also dressed up as bees.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kämpf, wife Eliška and son Michael dressed as characters from the Harry Potter franchise, opting to respectively resemble Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall and Harry Potter. The family's dog even got in on the fun, too, dressing as Dobby.

Calgary Flames forward Blake Coleman teamed up with captain Mikael Backlund this Halloween, dressing as characters Sadness and Anger from the hit animated movie. The wives of the NHL stars, Jordan and Frida, also joined the teammates, dressing as Disgust and Joy, respectively.

Quebec-born NHL brothers Mathieu and Pierre Olivier Joseph went a silly route for the Halloween costume this year. The St. Louis Blues players dressed as FBI brothers Marcus and Kevin Copeland in the comedy movie White Chicks in their white woman disguises.

Chicago Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno and wife Janelle opted for spooky costumes this Halloween. The couple dressed as Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein, and attended a party with several other NHLers and WAGs.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi embraced his missing teeth for Halloween. The Winnipeg-born hockey star and girlfriend Estelle Phillips dressed as a sleepy boy and a tooth fairy, showing off their bright and, well, eye-catching smiles this year.

Boston Bruins stars Brad Marchand and Jeremy Swayman dove deep into the mobsters trend that took over social media earlier this year. The Canadian-born captain and Alaskan-born goalie dressed as mob bosses, as their significant others, Katrina Marchand and Tori Hickel, glammed up in mob wives looks.

Calgary-native Matt Rempe and Connecticut-born Jonathan Quick put on a hilarious Halloween costume, recreating an iconic scene from the movie Elf. The New York Rangers players dressed as "Buddy" and Papa Elf from the comedy film, taking a photo where Rempe is sitting on Quick's lap.

Calgary Flames defenceman Tyson Barrie and wife Emma got creative this Halloween. The couple dressed up as Patrick Bateman and Evelyn Williams from American Psycho, giving a "Canadian edition" to the hit horror movie.

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews ventured to the dark side this Halloween. The California-born player dressed as Darth Vader from the Star Wars franchise, covering his entire body in the black suit and holding a red lightsaber.

St. Louis Blues forward Nathan Walker and wife Talya decided to channel their Aussie roots this Halloween. The only Australian NHLer and his partner dressed up as competitive breakdancer Rachael "Raygun" Gunn, who stirred controversy at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Minnesota Wild goalie Marc-André Fleury opted to dress up as a character from a hit comedy movie this Halloween. The Canadian hockey star dressed as McLovin from Superbad in a depiction that some call "scary accurate."

Boston Bruins defenceman Nikita Zadorov, wife Aleksandra and their two daughters dressed as the Addams Family for Halloween this year. The Moscow-born hockey star rocked a Gomez outfit, while his wife stunned as Morticia. Their eldest daughter, Sophie, channelled her best Wednesday costume, while younger sister Stephanie went as Pugsley.

Washington Capitals right winger Tom Wilson and Canadian volleyball star Taylor Pischke were a match made in heaven for Halloween. The Toronto-born hockey player and his wife dressed as Edward Lewis and Vivian Ward from hit rom-com Pretty Woman, featuring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts.

A few NHL couples dressed up as Ricky and Carley Bobby from comedy movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. That included New Jersey Devils winger Jesper Bratt and fiancée Nicole; St. Louis Blues defenceman Colton Parayko and wife Rachael; as well as Minnesota Wild forward Yakov Trenin and wife Valeria.

Washington Capitals defenceman Trevor van Riemsdyk and wife Annie dressed up as everyone's favourite retail samplers — the staff who hand out free goodies at Costco. The couple brought their A-game to their Halloween costumes, and held trays of samples with mini candies.

Nashville Predators defenceman Dante Fabbro and girlfriend Scottie Spiegelman chose a Halloween costume that might've been gathered at the "last minute," but is sure to give some people nightmares. The British Columbia-born athlete dressed as a gorilla, with his partner opting for a banana costume.

Players of the Ottawa Senators transformed into San Diego broadcast reporters for Halloween this year. Captain Brady Tkachuk channelled his best Ron Burgundy from comedy movie Anchorman, while wife Emma resembled Veronica Corningstone. Centres Ridly Greig and Josh Norris, as well as defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker, also joined in for the group costume.

Toronto Maple Leafs stars grouped up for a football-inspired Halloween costume this year. Defenceman Conor Timmins posted on a photo of the Carolina Panthers ensemble look, where he's dressed as a coach, Matthew Knies and Joseph Woll are seen as players and Philippe Myers went as an inflatable football.
