Netflix is releasing a spin-off series about Wednesday Addams, the iconic character played by Christina Ricci in the 1991 film The Addams Family - a supernatural dark comedy based on cartoons of the same name from the 1960s. The series, titled Wednesday, will be directed by quirky horror genius Tim Burton and is set to star a whole host of Hollywood greats. Here's everything we know about Netflix's Wednesday Addams series.
What is Wednesday going to be about?
As the name suggest the eight-part series will focus on the scene stealing daughter of the Addams family, Wednesday. It's described by Netflix as a "sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorised the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore."
Who has been cast in Wednesday?
Along with Tim Burton on side to direct the project You star Jenna Ortega will play the lead role, with Chicago star Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia and Narcos' Luis Guzmán as Morticia's husband Gomez Addams.
As of 7th June we got our very first look at the series in a 15-second teaser showing Ortega as Wednesday plaiting her iconic braids. And, wow, we are sold.
